I have been using Tor for some time whenever I need to seclude my
browsing.

A Firefox Add-On named "FoxyProxy" seems to make the integration of Tor
much easier and eliminates the need to also run privoxy.

Certainly these tools are available to us now.  But a trip to the Hales
Corners Library one day showed me a glimpse into the future of
government/corporate filtered Internet.  I could not get to infowars.com
- - probably listed as a hate speech site.  So I tried to fire up a
NoMachine connection to a remote server.  Port 22 outbound was blocked.

Later I added port 443 to my remote access server for accepting ssh
connections.  This is the https: port and the Library did not block
outbound connections on this port.  I was able upon my next visit to
actually gain a remote access connection in this way.

Still, I am glad we are having this discussion about the importance of a
communication medium where free expression reigns supreme.  As much of a
hastle as it can be, ultimately, it can be the force that counters
tyranny and allows us to unravel ourselves from the matrix of thought we
are fed by the media and government.
